a postdoctoral or a visiting scholar position is available in the laboratory of dr. chyung-ru wang in the department of microbiology and immunology at northwestern university.

the laboratory uses molecular and cellular-based approaches to study the functions of cd1 and mhc class ib molecules in infectious disease and autoimmune disease.

on going projects are focused on investigating the mechanisms responsible for unique phenotype of lipid antigen-specific cd1-restricted t cells in infection and inflammatory conditions, and determining the efficacy of subunit lipid vaccines inmycobacterium tuberculosis infection.

the candidate should have a ph.d. in the area of immunology with a background in cellular and molecular immunology, including expertise in animal models and flow cytometry; additional expertise in bioinformatics would be an asset.

qualifications also include strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, an ability to work independently, and commitment to laboratory research.

funding for this position is for two years with opportunity for renewal.
